Lianne Milton is an editorial and documentary photographer based in Northern Viriginia / Washington, DC and Rio de Janiero, Brazil. She photographs destination weddings with a fine art documentary approach.
I photograph weddings with a similar style as my documentary work - crafting a unique visual story of your wedding day. I photograph with both 35mm digital and 6x6 medium format film. My approach is documentary, capturing intimate moments fused with lifestyle & travel influences. Your photographs are fine art because you allow me to stay true to my creative vision in capturing one of the most celebrated days of your life. My goal is to make beautiful photographs that depict the energy, joy & romance of your wedding day. I am continuously inspired by my clients, who are creative, down to earth, and spontaneous at heart.
My wedding work has taken me throughout Northern California where I lived for many years, including San Francisco/Bay Area, Napa and Sonoma, the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains and Halfmoon Bay. I've also traveled for weddings to coastal New England, New York, Washington, Wisconsin, central Mexico, and Thailand.
I often divide my time between the DC metro area and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I met, fell in love and married my husband, Fábio, who is a documentary filmmaker. I've been a photojournalist for 14 years, photographing stories for international publications such as The Washington Post, M le Monde, New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal; for travel magazines, such as Delta, Iberia, KLM, South Korea, and United airlines, Conde Nast Traveller, New York Times, and Smithsonian Journeys; and for international NGOs, such as ActionAid, Open Society Foundations, Smile Train, UNICEF and UN Women.
During our off time, you can find us surfing and swimming the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
For availability and rates, please email me with your wedding details - wedding date, location, and possible budget. I also travel for weddings. Please inquire for travel rates.
And don't forget to tell me about yourselves! I would love to know.
